Vendor Selection and Outsourcing Advisory
For 25-plus years I have managed selections for large legal, investment-banking and professional-services clients: office support, document services, office equipment and technology. More than three dozen engagements in six years, with clients saving 10–15% or more on their existing costs. Past clients include Wilson Sonsini, WilmerHale, Paul Weiss, Fried Frank, Cleary Gottlieb and Weil Gotshal.
What you get from the buyer's side
Your time back. I run the process so your team is not buried in vendor meetings.
An ombudsman. I know the terms that favor the vendor and I negotiate them out.
Industry knowledge. I know who the vendors are, what they charge and how they deliver.
A deal both sides can live with. Contracts that last are the ones nobody regrets signing.
The four phases
On-site analysis and review
Data gathering, workflow analysis and staff interviews, ending in a Report of Findings that says what you actually need.
The request for proposals
Vendors prequalified, then a request for proposals written around your requirements, not a vendor's template.
Response scoring
Every response evaluated against a weighted scorecard. You see the ranking and the reasons.
Contract and beyond
Negotiation, implementation support, and quarterly audits so the savings hold.
Also available
Mid-contract renegotiation. When the market has moved and your contract has not.
Cost benchmarking. What an in-house operation really costs against the outsourced alternative.
Price
A full selection runs $15,000–$25,000, fixed scope. Benchmarking and renegotiation are quoted after a 30-minute call.
